Lumina's modules run in a fixed order, each one working on the image the previous module handed it. You build the image, shape it, give it character, then finish it.
Lumina is built around controlled image transformation rather than stacked effects. Each module changes one defined property of the image, in a known working space, in a known order — so an adjustment does what you expect and nothing else moves with it.
The colorist keeps control over the image, and the things that should stay natural — skin, neutrals, highlight roll-off — stay natural.
Seven stages, in the order Lumina applies them — camera log through to the finished frame. A LUT gives you one fixed transform; this is the pipeline, one step at a time.
CLICK TO GRADE LIVE
Lumina Skin selects skin and protects it while the rest of the image is graded — or lets you work on skin alone. The selection is visualised directly on the image, so you always see exactly what is being held.
A look is a starting point, never a replacement for the grade. Load one and every module underneath it stays live and adjustable.
Finished looks authored on the complete Lumina pipeline — not baked into a LUT. One click to load, then carry on grading.
Applied at the end of the film workflow. Each is a different print character — contrast, colour crossover and density — laid over whatever you have already built.
Get exposure and white balance right before anything else.
Build contrast, density and tonal structure with Lumina Tone.
Use Skin and Isolation where the image needs holding.
Add Film, Print, Bloom, Halation, Texture and Grain.
Apply a Signature Look or build your own on top.
Fine-tune, check on scopes, and deliver.
Lumina appears in the OpenFX library on the Color page. Every module lives in one panel, collapsed until you need it.
Lumina Grade is an OpenFX plugin. It appears in the OpenFX library on the Color page and is applied to a node like any other OFX effect. Works in DaVinci Resolve 18 or later, Free or Studio.
Lumina is built on the OpenFX (OFX) plugin standard, which is how Resolve loads third-party image processing effects.
Modules operate in a defined internal working space and in a fixed order — scene-referred operations first, display-referred operations after — so each adjustment has a predictable effect on the image.
Lumina can be used inside DaVinci Color Managed and DaVinci YRGB projects. Specific placement recommendations for each are covered in the user guide.
The film path runs as a negative stage followed by a print stage, matching the order of a photochemical pipeline rather than applying a single combined transform.
Grading on the Resolve Color page, applied per node. Full workflow guidance is in the Lumina Grade user guide.
Every licence is the whole plugin — all eighteen modules, every Look, every film stock and print. The only difference is how you pay for it.
